January 19  This evening's presentation by John Moscinski was  “Thelonious and Eric.” John showed a video covering the life and music of Thelonious Monk, then talked about and played some music selections of Chicago saxophonist, Eric Schneider.

January 12 Tonight's presentation by Doug Taylor was “Howard Levy – Journeys All Over the Musical Map.” Doug examined the work of this multi-talented local Chicago music who has played piano and harmonica with a variety of musicians, and across many musical genres, including stints with Bela Fleck and the Flecktones.

January 5  (1951-1973) - This evening, Perry Huntoon's presentation was Gene Krupa: The later post big band years (1951-73)." Perry looked at the output of Gene Krupa's various groups and bands after the demise of the "Swing Era."

December 15 Tonight's audio-visual presentation by society president, Ian Tiele was "It's Miller Time." Ian shared some audio tracks and video footage of the Glenn Miller Orchestra at the peak of their popularity.

December 8  Tonight was our Christmas Party with the live jazz being provided by the 17-piece all-girl Chicago Outskirts Big Band who played the great swing numbers of bands like Count Basie, Woody Herman and Duke Ellington.
December 1 Tonight's presentation by Doug Taylor was "The New, New Orleans Dynasty – part 2." Doug continued the musical journey of the Marsalis family by discussing Branford (saxophone), Wynton (trumprt), Delfeayo (trombone) and Jason (drums).

November 24  No Meeting - Thanksgiving

November 17  This evening's live jazz was brought to us by the Lara Driscoll Trio. Lara played for us last year when she was the pianist with Chris Davis' Jazztet. Tonight she graced us with her own trio of Lara Driscoll (piano), Sean Jacobi (bass) and Kurt Lubbe (drums). The music was a mixture of standards and original compositions by the leader.

November 10 Tonight, John Moscinski's audio-visual presentation "Benny Golson: Whisper Not" examined legendary saxophonist, composer and arranger Benny Golson through his words and his music.

November 3  This evening's presentation by Perry Huntoon delved into the excellent music of two lesser known swing bands: Bob Chester and Teddy Powell.

October 27  Tonight's live jazz event was very special, as it featured one of Italy's top jazz piano players, Roberto Magris, who is presently touring the US, and four of Chicagoland's finest musicians. The quintet was made up of Roberto Magris (piano), Mark Colby (tenor saxophone), Curt Bley (bass), Bob Rummage (drums) and DeDe Sampaio (Congas). Those lucky enough to be in attendance listened to some of the best jazz jmaginable.
