KOOL KATS AND JAZZY HOUNDS BENEFIT - 06/12/11 (first page)
June 12 Today was the Society's first charity fundraiser - The Kool Kats and Jazzy Hounds Benefit in aid of the Anderson Animal Shelter. We presented seven hours of non-stop jazz withl 7 different bands and all money raised going to the animal shelter. The event was held in the West Banquet Room at Sawa's Old Warsaw ic vn Broadview. There were silent auctions and two raffles and some fabulous jazz. All seven bands generously donated their services to the event, which had non-stop jazz from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. The bands participating in the event were the Pullman Conductors of Jazz, the Chicago Outskirts all-girl big band, the Chris Madsen Trio, the Mark O'Connor Quintet, the Eddie Stevens 3 with vocalist Amy Yassinger, the John Avila Trio and the Glenn Reitsma/Scott Mason Duo. The event raised a total of just over $2,000 for the charity and the money will go to help provide a safe home for stray and unwanted animals, until they are adopted.
