MAY 8, 2008 (Thursday) LIVE JAZZ - SUMMER KWAI and ILLUMINA 66 (The music starts at 7.30 p.m.)
Tonight's live jazz entertainment is the wonderful Summer Kwai and Illumina 66. Summer has been a guest at our live gigs before and brought a band for our Jazz-O-Rama, but this is her first appearance forus in the Cottage with her own band. For this event, there is a suggested band collection donation of $5 per person for BJS members (with membership card); non-members will be charged a cover charge of $5 at the door. The band collection and raffle proceeds go to the band.

JUNE 5, 2008 (Thursday) LIVE JAZZ - THE WEST END JAZZ BAND (The music starts at 7.30 p.m.)
This evening's live jazz entertainment is provided by the West End Jazz Band. The jazz age, like the big band era, lasted only about a decade. But as it passed through the twenties, it was one of the wildest decades in the history of our country. It was the Roaring Twenties, the Age of Ballyhoo, easy money and discontent. The younger generation was on a breathless, energetic spree trying to rewrite all the rules in one brief decade. Nothing caught the spirit of the twenties so expressively as the syncopated beat of jazz, and no one recreates it as well as the West End Jazz Band with the genuine hot and sweet dance styles of the 1920s and the 1930s. For this event, there is a suggested band collection donation of $5 per person for BJS members (with membership card); non-members will be charged a cover charge of $5 at the door. The band collection and raffle proceeds go to the band. Check out the band's website here.

JULY 3, 2008 (Thursday) LIVE JAZZ - SHAWN MAXWELL QUARTET (The music starts at 7.30 p.m.)
